This is a well known fact that I do not like shooting at beautiful locations, parks, lush interiors etc.. I love junk yards. Yes I do! Somehow it is so inspirational and the photos coming out are so textured, so creative...
Or maybe the contrast of the beautiful model and the poor environment does it, I don't know- but I do love all kinds of terrible {from one point of view}locations. Anyhow, so if you have noticed I have photographed old broken rattan couches, chairs, barrels, old cars.. Old cars- that is.
Meet Sonia. A clothing and jewelry designer, a makeup artist and a photographer! And simply a beautiful lady.
Wonderful summer ( well.. almost summer!) day and a beautiful couple: Veronica and Roger! What else can you ask for?
A night before she said "maybe" to a photoshoot tomorrow.
Tomorrow, she got so busy with her dolls that she said "nah", when I reminded her of her promise.
Well, I had nothing else but to ask her again and then open my magic suitcase with all kinds of clothing, accessories and props.. And I haven't mistaken- that did it and she finally said: YES.
She had also remembered that I had a violin, and how much fun she had last time when she discovered and "played" it. She definitely had the fun, not me!!! :) However, I said OK to it, since that was the only thing that could keep her interest around the shoot.
- But, baby, let's do the violin shot the last one in the series,- I said. That seemed to work for her, and so we have started.
Lights are set, clothes are picked, hair and face- done, lets shoot!
Didn't you know yet how much I love anything vintage? And vintage style photographs more than anything?!
Well. Look at these images below.
My fave shot from this session with Jing. I dont like giving names to my images, but this one I called "Violin Concerto in A minor, BWV 1041 "
There are two big, huge passions in my life - photography and ballet. So during my travel to Armenia, when I learned that there was this great opportunity to work with two ballerinas from the Armenian National Ballet Theater - I was thrilled! Moreover when I imagined all those beautiful places Armenia has to offer for the photo shoot, this idea of working with them became even more predominant than it was before. Meanwhile I had to wait a little bit as the girls were very busy at the Theater, having performances almost every evening, but this only helped me to plan more carefully for the photo session.
We have decided to shoot this at the ruins of the one of the most beautiful historic places - the Zvartnots temple, the Armenian Church build in the 7th century under the Byzantine Empire.
When photographing children I find that the most important is to make them interested in the photo shoot, let them play the role and pose.
So for these series we were inspired by the images of Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer and Gavroche - a character from the novel Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
We didn't have a goal to recreate their looks but were using them as an inspiration only and here are the results:
Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain is one of my most favorite movies and it is also very much inspirational for me as well. Its every second feels like a finished photograph, well balanced and well executed.
And here is my take on it:
I cannot believe that the summer has already passed since the last time I have updated this page.
I have been very busy shooting this summer, traveling internationally and working at beautiful locations and with great models! I have also been published overseas (yay me!!!) and met many wonderful people!
Though the spring fashion photoshoot - Rustic Chic was the main theme of the day, we took some other series too. I just thought that I won't mix them all together and that is why I am writing this separate entry.
I have been planning this photoshoot for a pretty long time now. Just waiting for a right model and here she is: meet Ludmila. She is originally from Ukraine and this is her first photo shoot ever. Would you believe it by looking at these photographs?
A relatively warm day. 40F- yay! Let's shoot!
Eriko is a beautiful and a very impressive model from Japan.
Well, after photographing Nataliya and Sergey's wedding, Nataliya became one of my favorite models. Nobody who sees her photos would believe that she is not a professional photo model. All her photo sessions usually result in very sensitive, natural and tender images. So when I started having the fall photoshoot ideas in my mind I was sure that Nataliya should be the model for this project.
After spending about an hour on the beach we came up with these fantastic images. I really liked how they turned out.
